Urgent Notes--Donation at ACLS this coming Sunday, May 18th
Dear ACLS parents and students,
Let's take a moment of silence to mourn those who lost their lives in the tragic China earthquake disaster. Our sincere condolence goes to the victims and their families.... ..
Like many of you, in these couple of days, I feel I have lost my courage to watch news, read related stories and look at those pictures. The heartwrenched feelings are very hard to describe. Many of us are very emotional (why not) about it. We all are trying hard to find ways to provide our support to our devastating brothers and sisters in our home country which we care so dearly in our hearts.
As I communicated to you two days ago, ACLS has been working with Boston Sichuan Folks Association and various Boston local Chinese organizations including Chinese Schools, other Folks Associations, Chinese Students and Scholars Associations, Alumini Associations and Performances groups, etc. to consolidate all efforts together. All Boston Chinese are united at these emotional difficult time. We believe "Together, we can achieve more; Together, miracles do happen".
Last night, representatives of over fifty Chinese organizations in the greater Boston area had our first face-to-face meeting at MIT. The information were exchanged, events plans were published for better coordinations. There are a series fundraising events in these couple of weeks. ACLS will certainly participate the events with other organizations. Meanwhile at ACLS, we have had quite a few discussions among admin members, board members, parent council and some parents, regarding to how we are going to proceed the donation efforts. We have heard your voices. Thanks for your trust in ACLS, we will certainly take the responsiblities of leading the foundraising efforts in our loving, warm and caring ACLS community. Below is our detailed plan for the donation at ACLS this coming Sunday, 5/18/08 during our normal school hours from 2:00-5:00pm in the Junior High School Lobby.

Please make a check payable to "Acton Chinese Language School", please write the organization you prefer (see #5 for details) on Memo. ACLS will send the money together to your designated organizations. If you don't have any preference please just write "Sichuan Earthquake Relief", ACLS will donate the money together to a suitable organization;
- We also collect cash, $5.00, $10, in any amount;
- ACLS will give you a tax deductible receipt on site;
- ACLS will record all donation information in detail;
- The recommended organizations list (based on research done by various Boston Chinese organizations)
